TCT uses website analytics to provide the best possible experience with our web platforms, Sites and offerings.
We may also use various website analytics vendors in order to gather information for us to better understand the usage of our Sites, improve the security of our systems, prevent duplicate or fraudulent user responses, improve our ability to direct particular research opportunities to particular audiences, and to inform our general marketing campaigns. TCT may place Internet “cookies” on the computer or other devices used by visitors to our Sites. Cookies are small text files that contain small amounts of information and are downloaded to your device. Cookies help us and/or the third parties who provide such cookies obtain information about your use of our Sites and improve its operation and for the other purposes mentioned above. We use two types of cookies: “session” cookies and “persistent” cookies.
Session cookies allow websites to link the actions of a user during a browser session. They may be used for a variety of purposes, such as the gathering the pages visited during a user visit to our Sites, or to facilitate use of our webmail communication system. Session cookies expire after a user’s session, and are not stored long term.
Persistent cookies are stored on a users’ device in between browser sessions which allows the preferences or actions of the user across a site (or in some cases across different websites) to be remembered.
A cookie cannot store or send back any information to us that you have not specifically and voluntarily provided while on a Site, or that is not among the information mentioned above that is contained in every user’s browser (e.g., domain name, browser type). Cookies do not contain personally identifiable information; however, once you choose to furnish TCT with personally identifiable information, this information may be linked to the data stored in the cookie. Cookies can then be used by web servers to identify and track users as they navigate different pages on a website and identify users returning to a website.
TCT may utilize features that, when you access the Sites by or through a mobile device or through your browser, accesses, collects, monitors and/or remotely stores “location data,” which may include GPS coordinates (longitude and latitude) or similar information regarding the location of your device. We may from time to time share such data with third-party analytics vendors, in order to best understand how you browse and use the Sites, as well as provide you personalized information based on that location data. Most mobile devices allow you to change or disable this functionality by changing the device settings.
A web beacon is a small image file from a web page that may be used to collect certain information from your device. This information may include the device’s IP address, time of access, browser, and identification of cookies. TCT, or its vendors, may utilize web beacons to track visitor statistics and manage cookies, as explained above.
In some of our email communications, we may track recipient actions. This may include user’s opening the email or clicking on links that may be included in the email. This is used to monitor user engagement with our communications.
